Toxic
Love this one for so many reasons. Spotted on a trash can that smelled like poo on the path to Trestles. Yup, I squatted down right there next to it to snap the pic on my phone. See what I do for you people?!? Lots of info in this sticker: DBE (or OBE) in the R. bottom corner, BEY (or REY) on the cufflink which I imagine is formal initials, the number 74 on the patch.... Fill me in if you know what it all means. Learn me up, please.

Venice Beach is insane. It's dirty, kinda stinky, flat out dark side of the moon. Oh, but it is so alive! I was in LA again recently and made a wrong turn out of LAX, heading north on Sepulveda when I shoulda been heading south. I think it was fate. It was a windy chilly Sunday but, oh man, the place was jumping. The cage at Muscle Beach was empty but everyone else was out in force: taggers at the wall, skaters airborne, the musicians, homeless, artists and medical marijuana peddlers all out hustling. The light was soft and sweet afternoon haze, perfectly diffused and delicious. If crazy ain't yo thang, don't go to Venice. But me? I love this town!
P.S. If any of y'all can tell me anything about the first picture in this post, the heart in head decal, I'd be most grateful. Loves it.

I have a thing for graffiti...
I love graffiti. I've always been stopped in my tracks by it but am just recently learning more about street art thanks to Juxtapoz and a vast amount of time on the internet. I just watched Banksy's "Exit Through the Gift Shop". Twice. I need to conversate with someone about it. Is this for real?
Somewhere there are some pix that Dad took of me and Janey when I was about 16 by a beautifully tagged wall we found in the city. I was wearing an old army jacket that I'd covered with pins and sparkles (very 80s) and had freakin horrid hair (very VERY 80s). You remember that look doncha? I'd love to take another, more slightly educated look at that wall now. I'll try to dig those up for a laugh.
These two pix were taken on one of my favorite walks. Specifically under the freeway bridge along the way to Trestles. There is tons and tons more graffiti there but I have to figure out how to get to it. Stay tuned...
